Around the world, from China to Cuba, the International Working class rises up and celebrates International Workers Day with parades and street celebrations (or strikes). Everywhere except for the United States where Labor Day was implemented to separate the American workers from the International workers.
On May 1st, 2014, Ukrainians took to the streets and celebrated the holiday despite threats from Neo-Nazi groups that have been ever-growing since Ukraine left the Soviet Union. In retaliation, the following day, May 2nd, these Neo-Nazi groups came for the blood of the antifascists. They burned down their encampment. The antifascists managed to get to the House of Trade Unions, where their office and meeting grounds were located. However once inside, these Neo-nazi groups attacked them forcing people outside by setting fire to the building then burning and beating those to death who didn't die from jumping out the building.
To get an idea, heres an actual video from the event.
If you choose to, I urge you to watch this with caution. The following material sows Neo-Nazis burning, beating up and torturing people to death. 18+ only
Only 48 people were identified but there is evidence that at least 116 were killed. The youngest known to die was a 17-year-old boy named Vadim Papura (Вадим Папура) who jumped out the building. Through recorded videos, it is seen that he lived through the fall but did not live through the beatings of the Neo-Nazis.
The Kiev Junta allowed this to happen. The number of people who were even tried for murders that are on video are 0. Absolutely. No. One.
Ukrainian anti-fascists were forced to leave their homes in West and Central Ukraine and go to Crimea, Russia, or pick up arms in Donbass against the fascist state.
The American government has financially backed Ukrainian nationalists since the Euromaidan through weapons and third-party finances to the present as blatant as Congress sending $47 million dollars to them. Therefore it is a duty as an antifascist and as an American to honor these martyrs for the struggle against fascism.
Members of the International Action Center and Workers World Party gathered in front of the U.S. Recruitment Station in Times Square and held a demonstration. You can read more about that here.
